About Us

Our Story

United Tooth Fairies was founded in 2016 by three dental hygienists, Roberta Schuller, Jolie Rowell, and Lisa Mobraten. Through their dental community, they attended dental conventions, outreach programs, and fundraisers. They all had the same desire to help others and agreed there was a great need to spread the word about the importance of oral health and provide services to those less fortunate.

Roberta’s friend Pam, who is affiliated with the IMA School for Girls in Guatemala, suggested they come down to Guatemala and meet the IMA team and community they serve. Roberta, Jolie, and Lisa were immediately interested and all three headed down to Guatemala in the hopes of passing out dental supplies to the community and determining if there was a need for dental care at the school. They brought along toothbrushes and floss, a few instruments for exams, and educational material.

There, they fell in love with the students at the school and the staff, and have since returned every year to the school. They were so passionate about their cause that they decided to officially form their nonprofit in 2021. Since then, they’ve developed relationships within the dental community of Guatemala to further their cause.

United Tooth Fairies hopes to gain more support and partners along the way, with the dream of one day developing a dental clinic for the girls to receive dental and medical care at their school. They know there is so much more to accomplish and wish to make a difference through their love for oral health and the Guatemalan community.

Founder/President

Roberta Schuller, RDH, MPH

Roberta has over 35 years of experience as a dental hygienist in private practice in both general and pediatric dental offices.  She has a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Southern California and a master’s in Public Health from West Coast University.  In the last 8 years, she has also stepped into education, training future dental hygienists at Concorde Career College in Garden Grove California, and West Coast University in Anaheim, California.

Always having a heart for children and volunteerism, she fueled this passion when visiting the IMA school for girls in Guatemala in 2016.  She fell in love with the girls who attended this school and promptly became a sponsor.  Each year she added more hygienists and volunteers to help with her new mission goal to improve the teeth and oral cavities of all girls attending the IMA school.  Her passion for helping this underprivileged community has become the focus of her life.  In her quest, she has developed a wonderful relationship with the Universidad de Francisco Marroquin Dental School to complete much-needed dental treatment for these girls.

Roberta has 4 beautiful children with her husband Geoff and enjoys traveling, biking, and puzzles.

CoFounder/Vice President

Jolie Rowell, RDH

Jolie is the co-founder of United Tooth Fairies and has been working as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2015.

She received her degree in Fashion Merchandise Product Development and worked in the fashion industry for three years before deciding to switch career paths into the world of oral health.  In 2015 she attended Concorde Career College and obtained her Dental Hygiene degree.

After graduating, she was introduced to the nonprofit world by working and volunteering with America’s Toothfairy, a nonprofit organization in the U.S. that works to ensure all children can have access to dental care. In addition, she worked with community oral health outreach programs and oral health events in California. Her deep passion for charity work developed and she jumped at the opportunity to join Roberta on the first trip down to Guatemala. The trip was life-changing and it moved her to cofound United Tooth Fairies with Roberta.

Recently, she moved from San Diego to Southern Oregon and is taking a break from working in private practice to focus on United Tooth Fairies and her family.

During her free time, you can find Jolie traveling with her husband, exploring the outdoors, and hanging out with her animals.

Secretary

Lisa Mobraten, RDH

Lisa has been in the dental field since 2011. She started pursuing her dreams as a Registered Dental Assistant in Arizona and got her degree as a Registered Dental Hygienist in California.

After graduating, she worked with Jolie at America’s Tooth Fairy, a non-profit organization based in Orange County. This organization inspired her to become more involved in working with needy children and families. Lisa was introduced to IMA Guatemala through her mentor Roberta Schuller. She has such a deep dedication to the dental field and a willingness to help people that she was thrilled at the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and share her true passion and time to help others.

Currently, Lisa is working full time a dental hygienist in Orange County, California. She visits her family back home in Arizona during her free time, practices yoga, and loves spending time outdoors.
